GEO (generative engine optimization), explained simply
GEO means working on how findable and clearly presented your content is in generative search and answer systems. A mention cannot be forced.
Context and limits
A mention by an AI system is different from a recommendation, and both are different from a linked source citation. Correct markup does not promise that a system will pick your page. Google says the same SEO best practices apply to its AI features as to regular search; there is no special “AI code”.
How to check it in practice
Write down the questions, the systems, the language, the region and the date. Treat the results as a limited sample, not as a market share.
No guaranteed visibility
Documented findings and checkable actions are one thing; promised rankings, AI mentions or revenue are another. Nobody can guarantee the latter.
